VI - Fun -n- Sun
Views
Most folks arrive on St. John by ferry so their first glimpse is picturesque Cruz Bay harbor on the west side of the island. This is the view from the Lind Point trail in the National Park. Cruz Bay town is all in walking distance from the harbor.

Not far out of town, you come to the Caneel Bay overlook which also gives you a view of Jost Van Dyke in the BVI. In between Cruz Bay and Coral Bay, the National Park Service (NPS) owns 65% of the land and has jurisdiction over most of the sandy beaches and their off shore waters.

Sugar Plantations flourished on the island until the abolition of slavery. Sugar mill ruins can still be seen but most are not in as good condition as these at Catherineberg.

While you can go inside the ruins at Catherineberg, those at Annaberg are more extensive and are interpreted by the NPS.

Boats large and small are all part of the fun on St. John

After a tough day at the beach, it is nice to kick back and enjoy a sunset over the water from your deck.
